FOCM Fridays — 1,300 Hours
A service day on the first Friday of every month, all year. Attendance ranged from two people to twenty-five, and together they logged over 1,300 hours.

Starting in January 2025, Friends of Camp Mack held a service day on the first Friday of each month. Sometimes two people showed up. Sometimes twenty-five. Either way, work got done.
Across the year these Fridays and the other service days added up to more than 1,300 recorded hours — comfortably our busiest year as an organization.
What got done on Fridays
- Split rail fence installed at the Training Center
- Foundation repair prep work for the Ranger Residence
- New windows installed in Esbenshade Lodge
- Roof demolition ahead of the new roofs on Ford and Snavely Pavilions
- Brush clearing, tree work, campsite cleanups, string trimming, weeding, landscaping, mowing and wood splitting
- Summer camp tent set-up, then disassembling the metal beds and reassembling them after camp
- Clean-up around the lake and removal of brush on the island
- Dozens of smaller jobs that never made a list
How it works
Volunteers meet at camp from 8 AM to 3 PM and work through whatever Ranger Avery Ford needs most that week. Lunch is provided. No experience is required, and there is no minimum commitment — come for one Friday or come for all of them.
