The Five-Year Campsite Plan

A joint project with the Pennsylvania Dutch Council to refurbish all five campsites at Camp Mack — new platforms in every site, and a permanent pavilion in each.

Scheduled
January 1, 2026

For years there has been a need to repair the tent platforms and to put a permanent pavilion in each campsite. The individual tarps that have stood in for pavilions are not adequate, particularly on a rainy day with a site full of Cub Scouts.

Starting in 2026, Friends of Camp Mack and the Pennsylvania Dutch Council are working through all five campsites together.

How the work divides

  • The council funds the tent platforms.
  • Friends of Camp Mack provides the labor to build and place them.
  • Friends of Camp Mack funds and builds a permanent pavilion in each site.

Each site is stripped of everything except its latrine, then rebuilt.

The order

Site Year
Chippewa 2026
Seneca 2027 (tentative)
Tuscarora future
Susquehanna future
Mohawk future

This is hands down the most ambitious project the organization has taken on, and it runs for five years. It will need help from members over that whole stretch — but the campsites are where Scouts actually spend their week, and they are worth doing properly.
