150 Tents, Hauled Back From Indiana
Four members drove a box truck to Indiana and back over three days to bring home 150 canvas tents, 200 cots and 150 tent frames for summer camp.

Many of Camp Mack’s canvas tents were showing their age. New tents of the type used for the Cub Scout summer camp program are prohibitively expensive, so a few members went looking for used ones in good condition instead.
They found them at Maumee Scout Reservation in the Hoosier Trails Council, near Bloomington, Indiana — over 150 tents, 200 cots and 150 metal tent frames. The Pennsylvania Dutch Council was able to buy them. The problem was getting them to Pennsylvania.
Three days on the road
In late May, Gary Guare, Bob Chaballa, Logan Startoni and Eric Shea took time off work and set out. They drove to Indiana, rented a box truck, loaded the tents, cots and frames, and drove the whole lot back to camp.
More than a dozen members and camp staffers met the truck when it arrived. The group decided to start setting the metal frames out in the campsites while the canvas was still coming off the truck.
The four of them said they would do it again if it were needed.
