About us

Formed by people who grew up here.

For more than five decades, the J. Edward Mack Scout Reservation has been a place where Scouts of all ages develop skills and friendships that last a lifetime.

In late 2020, a group of people who had spent their own summers at camp — staff, campers, parents and neighbors — formed a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation to help make sure the property and its programs are still here for the next generation.

We are not the council and we do not run the camp. The reservation is owned and operated by the Pennsylvania Dutch Council. What we do is raise money, buy materials, organize volunteers and get work done that would otherwise sit on a list.

Everything we take on is documented on theprojects page — what it was, who showed up, and how it turned out.

Our objectives

Five things we set out to do

  1. 01

Build a network of current and former staff, campers, families and supporters.

  2. 02

Support preservation of the property with funding, materials and labor.

  3. 03

Promote the programs that run at the reservation.

  4. 04

Sponsor community events that benefit the camp.

  5. 05

Help maintain and sustain the facility for the Scouts who come next.

J. Edward Mack Scout Reservation

The reservation sits near the center of the Pennsylvania Dutch Council service area in Newmanstown, Pennsylvania. It hosts summer Cub Scout programs, year-round camping, district and council activities, and the council training center.

For camp reservations, program dates and facility questions, the council is the right place to ask — we are a supporting organization, not the operator.
